About Zoey
I am particularly drawn to subjects that are sensitive, complex, or that are mainly misconstrued. I like using my speeches and writing to help others get insight on such issues.
Several of my writings have been honored through awards, including the Scholastic Gold Key award in the state of Massachusetts, the Scholastic Silver Medal award at the national level, as well as the Certificate of Commendation award in the John Locke Essay Competition. Writing, as a process, represents one of the central ways in which I generate ideas.
Music is another big aspect of my life. I play the violin and piano, and I also sing. I help coordinate and present concerts for senior centers. I help arrange performance programs, coordinating with the people to put on the concerts. I have been a part of all these concerts since I was in elementary school. They have taught me a lot about leadership and using my talents for the benefit of the community.
Another important aspect of my life is athletics. I am involved in The Pike School’s cross-country, basketball, and track and field teams. Through these sports, I value the discipline as well as the friends I have made built through teamwork and competition. Being actively involved in athletics has helped me develop the ability to push myself through hardships. These experiences have played an important role in shaping me.
In addition, art is also something that I enjoy engaging in. Visual art gives me another way to express ideas and experiment creatively, and it’s an important part of how I think and create alongside writing and music.
